Cath Weeks was born and raised in Somerset in south-west England, not far from the city of Bath. She began writing stories and poems in early childhood, inspired by the long walks she took with her family, exploring Thomas Hardy's Wessex in Dorset and Daphne du Maurier's Cornwall.
She loved Hardy's emotional power and du Maurier's page-turning suspense. So when she began her writing career, she set about making these two ingredients the cornerstone of her work.
All of her novels are set in the West Country, from her home town of Bath to the end of the land in Cornwall.

Cath studied Creative Writing as part of her English degree at Loughborough University, shortly after which she won a national writing competition. Before signing her first book deal, she self-published two novels, and her prize-winning short story was produced and broadcast by the BBC.
Her debut, 'Blind', was nominated for the Desmond Elliott prize, longlisted for the Waverton Good Read award and she was named an Author to Watch by ELLE. Her work has featured in the Literary Review and the London Evening Standard. In 2022, 'Good Husbands', written under the pen name Cate Ray, was a Barnes & Noble Bookseller's Favourite and an Apple Best Book.
Before becoming a full-time author, Cath worked in magazine publishing in London and began writing her first novel in Paris. A trained pianist and flautist, she often turns to music to help her think about her book characters.
She lives in Bath with her husband and two sons and is currently working on her latest novel.
